Morning Routine | Streamline

the FOCUS | create a slow morning

After years of slapping my phone to turn off my *fifth* snooze alarm, I realized the reason I kept hitting snooze was not solely because I was still tired - it was because I wanted to delay the frantic race to get ready. Shifting the wake up experience in its entirety made me become a morning person.

This streamline is 100% me leaning into a slow, calm wake up. It’s setting my alarm earlier just to sit up in bed, turn on my remote controlled candles across the room, softly crank up some jazz music, and wait until my coffee arrives from my sweet husband (the GREATEST love language act of service IMO). Once I get those initial reviving sips, I’ll reach for my ice roller and planner to review what I have going on that day - because I did my to-do list the night before. The last 10 minutes of the wake up are dedicated to consuming anything that inspires me and gets my brain going: a magazine, pinterest, a podcast, etc.

I’ve come to appreciate and accept that I need a slow morning to have a great rest of my day - rather than fight for a 5AM workout. If that works for you, awesome, but I’ve realized it doesn’t work for me… at least not right now, anyway.

the STREAMLINE | outs & ins

Each one of these pass the 3 streamlining criteria: efficiency, sustainability and progression.

the ESSENTIALS | streamline game changers

This roller is one of the first things I reach for on my bedside table. I roll it on my wrist in the morning and it immediately helps me slowly wake up. I keep it in a small glass with the top pointing up, because I found it can leak occasionally if stored horizontally.

Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax; on Amazon; $30-$35 price range

If you don't love real candles burning in your bedroom - these are a great option! I keep the remote on my bedside table to easily turn off the candles around the room without having to get up.

Remote Control Flameless Candle, 3 Pack; on Amazon; $20- $25 price range

--------

I don't think I'll ever grow old of see thru mugs. Whether I'm drinking coffee from them or a morning matcha - they are my fave!

Bistro Coffee Mugs, 2 Pack; on Amazon; $35- $40 price range

--------

I have recently adopted a USE IT mentality when it comes to things like eye masks or nicer face masks. I've been burned too often by expired beauty products, so let me be the first to tell you USE THEM!

Wander Baggage Claim Eye Masks, 6 Pairs; on Amazon; $25- $30 price range

--------

When I say this will INSTANTLY wake you up when nothing else will - I mean it. Too many margs the night before? No problem. This roller does its job. Are there cheaper options out there? Ofcourse, but I really like this one and get a lot of *free* value from The Skinny Confidential brand, so there was no love lost on this purchase for me.

TSC Hot Mess Ice Roller; $65- $70 price range

--------

Did I awkwardly open this in front of my family members this Christmas? Perhaps. Was I phased? Nope because this planner is that good. It has sections for skincare, fitness, podcasts, music, intentions, gratitude, you name it!

TSC Can I Get A Minute Planner; $30-35 price range

--------

Last but not least is the TSC face roller. This instantly helps depuff my face and enhance my jawline. I'm weird about my occasional double chin, and this feels like a lymphatic massage in that area. I love this one!

TSC Face Massager; $95-$100 price range
