Savvy SWAP | Deodorant

what are we SWAPPING?

In an effort to bring in better [not perfect] products into the household, what better way to kick it off with something we most likely use every day? Finding a clean(er) DEODORANT SWAP for a better [not perfect] solution to what is typically known as a toxic product seemed like a the perfect place to start.

RISKS | what's the big deal?

One of the biggest risks surrounding antiperspirants is that aluminum is typically a leading ingredient. Aluminum is in most antiperspirant products because it helps block the pores from producing sweat - therefore eliminating odor. No one wants to smell, obvi, BUT sweating [whether we like it or not] is a very important bodily function. It has been said to flush toxins, unclog pores, lower risk of kidney stones, strengthen heart health, and aid in muscle recovery. The other strike against aluminum is that several studies site there may be a link to cancer. Their research found correlations between the two. While, this is still a relatively new discovery, the mere possibility a link might exist was enough for me to seek a better alternative - especially since it’s something I’d likely use almost every day.

savvy SWAP | what are we bringing in?

I have tried several better [not perfect] deodorants and was BLOWN AWAY by the Native eucalyptus & mint stick. It smells like a spa, works all day, and really does rival the “bad boys” when it comes to battling odor. I haven’t tried other scents yet, mostly cause I’m enjoying smelling like an Equinox gym, but I’m open to it!

If you wanted an even better [almost perfect] swap - go the unscented route, as fragrance isn’t great for you. Personally, not there yet in my journey, but couldn’t be happier with this swap!
